My journey with watercolor painting began after I retired in 2002. At the encouragement of my husband, I took my first watercolor class through our local college in Monterey, California. I was amazed to discover that something I had never considered could absorb me so totally.
While I have experimented with a variety of subject matters, the one I keep returning to is the human face. Faces intrigue me, and endeavoring to capture the character and spirit in a face is a tantalizing challenge. What I see in faces is a story that wants to be told. I try to capture their story in my paintings. Hopefully, their faces will move others as they have moved me.
During COVID I took an online class in acrylics and have enjoyed using this new medium after all the years of watercolor.
My husband and I have lived in beautiful San Miguel de Allende for 10 years. During this time we both have been enjoying our retirement and creating art.
